All India Association for Christian Higher Education (AIACHE),which
is an association of Christian colleges in India, firmly
believes that it has a special responsibility to be the
“brother’s keeper” and to care for the
growth and development of Christian schools from pre-primary
to the higher secondary. With this conviction AIACHE took
the initiative for the formation of a new ecumenical body
All India Council for Christian Educational Institutions
(AICCEI). It was established on 31st October, 2001 at a
conference held in Hyderabad.
The proposal to set up the Council emerged from the All
India Survey of Christian Schools and Colleges started by
AIACHE in the year 2000 as a jubilee project, It was widely
felt by Christian educators of all denominations that there
is urgent need for an ecumenical national body to protect
and promote the interests of Christian educational institutions
at various levels. Accordingly, All India Council for Christian
Educational Institutions (AICCEI) was set up. AICCEI seeks
to bring together all Christian educational institutions
from non-formal centres to deemed universities on a common
national platform and to function as the authentic voice
of the Christian educational mission. The Council has three
