for General Body Meeting and Invitation to the
Triennial Conference of Christian Colleges and Universities
Dear Members,
Greetings and good wishes from AIACHE.
We are extremely happy to announce that the Triennial General
Body Meeting of the AIACHE Society and also the Triennial
Conference of Christian Colleges and Universities will be
held on 29, 30, 31 January, 2012 in Chennai. Please note
the following:
1. The General Body Meeting of AIACHE Society and the Triennial
Conference of Christian Colleges and Universities will be
held at Joe Beach Conference Centre, ECR (East Coast Road),
Krishnan Karanai, Mahabalipuram, Kancheepuram District,
Tamil Nadu – 603 104 (Tel No. 044-27444005, Mobile
: 0-9445195517, 0-9445194213).
2. The General Body Meeting will be held in conjunction
with the Triennial Conference of Christian Colleges/Universities
from 4.00 p.m. on 29th January, 2012 to 2.00 p.m. on 31st
January, 2012. Please try to reach the venue before 4.00
p.m. on 29th January, 2012. When your travel plans are finalized
let us know when you will be arriving and departing from
the Conference venue.
3. During the Conference special speakers/invitees will
address the delegates on important topics or issues pertaining
to Christian Higher Education in our country. The member
institutions will also be given an opportunity to share
their concerns and ideas (5 minutes with the help of LCD)
to be helpful to the members on the first day of the conference
(29th January between 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m.).
4. During the sessions of the General Body Meeting, the
triennial report on the activities of the Association will
be presented and future policies and programmes evolved.
The statements of accounts for the previous three years
will also be placed before the General Body. Besides, the
election of the Office Bearers and Executive Board members
for the next triennium will also take place at this meeting.
Only those members who have paid their annual membership
fee upto 2010-2011 or the Membership Fee in Perpetuity (MFIP)
are eligible to attend the General Body Meeting and participate
in voting for various purposes. Kindly pay the arrears of
annual subscription of your institution, if you have not
paid so far.
5. The member institutions are to be represented by their
respective Principals/Vice Chancellors. Please make a special
effort to attend the meeting. However, if for some unavoidable
reason a Principal/Vice Chancellor is unable to be present,
he/she (Secretary of the College in some cases where Principals
are yet to be appointed) may depute the Vice-Principal/Pro-Vice
Chancellor/Bursar or a senior Christian Professor with a
letter authorizing him/her to represent the college/university
and to vote on behalf of the college/university.
6. Institutional Friends who are in effect Associate Members
are not eligible for voting for any purpose as per the rules
of the Association. However they are welcome to attend the
General Body meeting and Triennial Conference.
7. The Tentative Programme of the conference is as follows:
29th January, 2012:
Arrival, Registration, Opening Devotion, Felicitation,
Sharing by Members about the concerns/ideas/innovative programmes
from 6.00 p.m. (with LCD – 5 minutes for each member
institution between 6.00 p.m and 8.00 p.m.)
30th January, 2012:
Morning worship, Inauguration followed by special lectures/group
discussions/plenary/cultural programmes.
31st January, 2012:
Morning worship, special lectures (to be contd.), Business
meeting and Valedictory.
Departure by 2.00 p.m.
The newly elected Executive Board will meet soon after lunch
on 31st January, 2012.
8. We request you to book your onward and return journey
as soon as possible.
9. College/University managements are requested to pay
for the travel expenses of the participants attending the
meeting. Owing to the financial difficulty faced by AIACHE,
we regret our inability to meet the travel expenses of the
participants. This rule applies to the Executive Board members
(excepting the co-opted members) also as they are attending
the meeting in their capacity as members of the Society
like all other participants. For this purpose we are enclosing
herewith a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Governing
Body which may be submitted to the Chairman, if necessary.
Kindly excuse the inconvenience and cooperate with us to
minimize the cost of the General Body meeting. They may
utilize UGC funds/other funds for the purpose of attending
conference.
10. How to reach? Located about 45 kms south of the city
of Chennai in South India, it is near to Mahabalipuram,
a seashore town of architectural beauty. All along the coast
from Chennai to Mahabalipuram are several pristine beaches.
Standing out among them, Joe Beach a unique Beach Resort,
run by the Sisters – Daughters of Mary Immaculate.
Joe Beach provides chill-out holidays with a comfortable
stay in its spotlessly clean rooms. The nearest land mark
is Sai Baba Temple, 8 kms from Kovalam towards Mahabalipuram.
Mode of Transport:
By Taxi: From Airport you can take a call taxi and they
will charge you Rs. 1000 maximum upto Joe Beach. From central
and Egmore railway station take fast track call taxi and
they will charge you Rs. 1000.From Koyambedu Bus stand call
taxi will ask Rs. 1300. You may pay them the exact money
which the meter shows, after reaching the venue. It depends
upon the traffic also, if its heavy traffic may be amount
can differ.
By Bus: If anybody wants to come by bus from Koyambedu
catch Mahabalipuram bus, get down in Mahabalipuram and take
a share auto to Krishnankarnai which will be bit confusing
for the new comers to Chennai. From railway station or airport
if you want to come by bus come to Tiruvanmiyur, from there
you can catch 588 or 599 and get down in Kishnakarnai. The
bus will stop in front of Joe Beach Resort. A.C buses will
not stop, so try to avoid AC buses incase if you take A.C
bus then get down in Mahabalipuram and take an auto to the
venue. In case you require any help to reach the place please

the Principals of Chennai City Colleges with Rev. Fr. B.
Jeyaraj, s.j. (Principal, Loyola College, Nungambakkam,
Chennai – 600 034) as Convener and Dr. Ridling Margaret
Waller (Principal, Women’s Christian College, College
Road, Chennai. Tel. No: 044-28276798, 29275926 Mobile: 0-9840683182)
as Co-Convener and Dr. Rachel Jebaraj (Principal, St. Christopher’s
College of Education, Vepery, Chennai) as Treasurer of the
Organizing Committee. All male participants are requested
to arrive at Loyola College (Nungambakkam, Chennai. Tel
No. 044-28178304, 28178200, 28178301) for necessary transit
to Joe Beach Conference Centre. All female participants
are requested to arrive at St. Christopher’s College
of Education (63 E.V.K. Sampath Road, Vepery, Chennai. Tel
No. 044-26618577 Mobile: 0-9444663232) to go to Joe Beach
Centre, Mahabalipuram. All the member institutions will
also get an invitation from the Organizing Committee in
December, 2011.
11. Owing to the extreme shortage of rooms at the venue,
we regret that it will not be possible to accommodate relatives
of delegates at the venue. Please cooperate in this matter.
12. Each participant is expected to pay a registration
fee of Rs. 1000/- each for the Triennial Conference by a
bank draft in favour of "All India Association for
Christian Higher Education". This amount will be used
for meeting part of the Conference expenses.
Please confirm your participation in the General Body
Meeting and the Triennial Conference of Christian Colleges/Universities
by 15th January, 2012 and remit the registration fee as
mentioned above. For any further details of the Conference

Vice Chancellor/Principal/Nominee to attend the AIACHE Society
General Body Meeting and Triennial Conference
Dear Chairperson,
Greetings and good wishes from AIACHE.
We are writing this letter to request your kindness in
an important matter. As you know your College/University
has been a member of AIACHE Society for many years. During
the last 45 years of AIACHE’s service it has rendered
substantial service to your college/university through defence
of minority rights, staff development, innovative ideas
and general guidelines on educational development. When
AIACHE had enough funds it has contributed generously to
members for various projects and activities.
The Triennial General Body meeting of AIACHE Society will
be held at Joe Beach Conference Hall, ECR (East Coast Road),
Krishnan Karanai, Mahabalipuram, Kancheepuram District,
Tamil Nadu – 603 104 (Tel No. 044-27444005, Mobile
: 0-9445195517, 0-9445194213 ). It is a very important meeting
which will evolve policies and programmes for the future.
The participation of your Principal/Vice Chancellor in the
meeting is also a sign of your college’s/university’s
solidarity in the ecumenical unity represented by AIACHE.
The Association is unable to meet the travel expenses
of members attending the General Body meeting. We are also
requesting participants to pay the registration fee of Rs.
1000/- to cover part of the conference expenses. In this
connection I request you and other members of the Governing
Body to sanction adequate travel assistance for facilitating
the participant’s journey, to attend the General Body
meeting and also to pay the registration fee. I also request
you to kindly pray for the success of the General Body meeting
and future growth and development of AIACHE.
